The Mastercam Mill 4-Axis Training Course is designed for individuals looking to enhance their expertise in advanced milling operations. This specialised course focuses on leveraging the full potential of 4-axis milling, equipping participants with the skills needed for high-precision, multi-axis machining projects.

Lesson Plan

1. Introduction to a 4-axis Mill
• Setting up a program for a 4-axis mill
• Understanding 4-axis machine movements and corresponding operations

2. Indexing strategy

• Creating planes in Mastercam to index the job to different angles (3+1 machining strategy)
• Correct methods for indexing parts to achieve precise degrees
• Configuring planes to maintain a single work offset
• Applying 2D and 3D toolpaths after indexing

3. Simultaneous strategy

• Using 2D and 3D toolpaths with axis substitution for simultaneous motion
• Applying multi-axis toolpaths for advanced simultaneous motion
• Mastering multi-axis drilling techniques

4. Toolpath transform

• Rotating toolpaths around a job using toolpath transform
• Setting parameters to generate accurate G-code for rotational operations

5.Mastercam toolpath verification

• Using Mastercam’s verification and machine simulation features
• Performing collision checks and comparing the final part to the design model

6. CIMCO Edit machine simulation

• Using CIMCO Edit to simulate NC code
• Setting up machines in CIMCO for full NC code machine simulation
• Conducting collision checks and verifying the final part against the design

3 Days (08:00 – 16:00)

MECAD to supply hardware and software.

Prerequisites:

• Completion of the Mastercam Essentials Course
• Advanced machine knowledge (4-axis Milling)
• Tooling knowledge

Recommendation:

• Review work completed in the Essentials course, particularly in 2D and 3D milling
• Understand the operations of a 4-axis mill.
